The seams of all Flexothane® garments are high-frequency welded.

The Flexothane® fabric is the result of the Groups’ vertical integration, where the entire production process is controlled from fabric to finished product. Flexothane® is produced on the transfer coating lines of the Sioen Industries Group. Extended durable protection against hydrolysis is key to this fabric.

Siopor, what’s it all about?

Siopor

“Good things come to those who sweat”, a turn of phrase that may seem a bit of a cliché, but that contains a grain of truth. Nevertheless for people in a nicely heated fitness studio with the prospect of a refreshing shower it may be fashionable to have sweat dripping down your body, but if you’re working for hours in wind and driving rain it’s much less pleasant to be drowning in sweat. That’s why Sioen developed Siopor®, a technical fabric that protects you from all weather conditions — wind, cold & rain — without sealing heat and moisture in.

breathable protection layer that expulses excessive heat and perspiration keeping your hard working body cool and comfortable. The Siopor® range comprises a careful selection of different outer fabrics with a specially adapted coating. Discover all of our Siopor® qualities in the paragraph of the same name.

How does SIOPOR work

Technology

Siopor® consists of a water repellent polyester outer layer with a hydrophilic polyurethane coating on the inside. The breathability of the fabric is assured by the specific structure of the coating. The microporous basecoat has millions of microscopic “canals”. These pores are a thousand times smaller than waterdrops, but considerably larger than moisture vapour molecules allowing them to evaporate.

An additional hydrophilic PU coating transports the moisture vapour molecules to the outside of the garment in a molecular chemical way under the influence of an energy difference (temperature, moisture) between the inside and the outside of the garment. The fabric “breathes”, perspiration can escape.

The outer polyester fabric receives a durable water and dirt/oil repellent finish, so it doesn’t get soaked and stays clean longer. The seams of all Siopor® garments are taped with the most advanced technology.

This technology guarantees the following characteristics:

  • Wind- and waterproof
  • Breathable
  • Comfortable
  • Supple
  • Lightweight
  • Strong
  • Machine washable

The SIOPOR® Experience

Throw on your Siopor® garment and get an early start at work. On a cold and fickle morning you’ll be glad to wrap up warm in the comfy material. And although it offers you warmth and protection, the Siopor® jacket is remarkably light and supple, following your every move. When the rains starts pouring down, you know you needn’t worry. Your Siopor® protection layer will keep you perfectly dry. The durable water repellent finish makes sure the fabric doesn’t absorb the raindrops, so you don’t have to carry the extra weight of the water.

Albeit the cold outside, the work effort heats up your body and perspiration is produced. But before it can start prickling on your skin, your breathing Siopor® layer moves the perspiration away to the outside of the garment where it can evaporate. You can work all day long without having that clammy feeling creeping up on you.

No safety boots? Better mind you toes there horse!!!!!!!!!!

Why Safety Boots?

It is always a good idea to mind your toes, it doesn’t hurt to mind you fingers as well and to avoid possible optical injuries always watch your eyes. I tried explaining the concepts of health and safety to a two year old recently, ”watch your eyes pet” brought about a hilarious series of eye movements which reminded me a little of a chameleon. Seriously though, safety in the work environment should always be paramount as there is nothing funny about a thumb split up the sides like a burst tomato, or a 6″ nail sticking up through the top of a boot.

There are several different specifications for safety boots, the level of protection and exact specification of the boot is clearly labelled, the label is generally on the inside of the tongue( of the boot, not your own tongue).

To be classified as a safety boot the footwear must adhere to certain specifications. these specifications are set

EN 345-1:1992 – Safety footwear for professional use – Specification Superseded by EN ISO 20345:2004

Basic requirements – Safety footwear must have a 200J toecap.

Other properties: (may not all apply to some designs of footwear)

  • P – penetration resistance
  • C – conductive
  • A – antistatic
  • HI – insulating against heat
  • CI – insulating against cold
  • E – energy absorbing seat region
  • WRU – uppers resistant to water penetration / absorption
  • HRO – outsole resistant to hot contact Classification I – (made from leather and other materials, but not all-rubber or allpolymeric types)
  • SB – basic requirements for safety footwear met
  • S1 – basic requirements plus closed and energy absorbing seat region, and antistatic
  • S2 – as S1 plus water penetration and absorption
  • S3 – as S2 plus penetration resistance and cleated sole Classification II – (all-rubber or all-polymeric types)
  •  S4 – basic requirements plus energy absorbing seat region, antistatic
  • S5 – as S4 plus penetration resistance and cleated sole EN 345-2:1996 – Safety footwear for professional use –
  • Additional specifications Superseded by EN ISO 20345, EN 17249 and EN 1509
